The first goal of the Matt Morris for National Wrestling Hall of Fame committee is to get Matt Morris nominated for enshrinement. We ask former wrestlers and friends to please send respectful nominating letters to nomination committee, by April 1, 2008, which is the date for nominations for Hall of Fame for 2009. With that goal achieved, we will be expanding our letter writing campaign.
Please feel free to copy and paste these sample letter and send them to the Matt Morris Hall of Fame nominating committee. Attention: National Wrestling Hall of Fame Selection Committee
The purpose of this letter is to make an application to nominate Mr. Matt Morris
to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Matt Morris has thus far had an outstanding career with The Bolles School and
Nease High School spanning 25 years and has long been proclaimed as a superior
athlete and coach by fellow players, coaches, fans and sports writers.
For 25 years Matt Morris demonstrated his talent as Head Coach with Bolles and
Nease. He Coached *** Dual Meets winning***. In 1992 and 1993 He coached The
Bolles School to Back to Back State Wrestling Team Titles while setting a then
record for most team points scored in the Florida State Wrestling Finals. In
1993 he instituted the first ever wrestling program at Nease High School and won
a district title. Notable Wrestlers he has coached include Chris Bono (Three
time State Title winner, NCAA National Champion and member of the U.S. Freestyle
National Team and Jericho Weitzel first 7th grade student to win the
Florida High School State Finals) He also won two state high school wrestling
titles as an athlete for Avondale Estates High School in Georgia. I respectfully
request that you consider Mr. Morris for admission to the National Wrestling
Hall of Fame (State Chapter, Class of 2009) and that you give him the full
consideration that he deserves.
Mr. Morris’ accomplishments have long been acclaimed by his fans and sports
writers. Please consider awarding him the appropriate honor of a proper place in
the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Dear Hall of Fame Selection Committee,
I am writing this letter on behalf of the countless fans and supporters who
would like to recommend Coach Matt Morris as a nominee for the National
Wrestling Hall of Fame (State Chapter 2008/2009).
Growing up in Avondale Estates, Georgia, Morris was the salutatorian of his
class at Avondale High School. He also participated in football, wrestling, and
track and field at the school. He won two state titles in wrestling and is a
member of the Avondale Football Hall of Fame. He also earned the ranking of
Eagle Scout.
Morris graduated with a bachelor of business administration from the University of Georgia, where he was a captain of the varsity wrestling team. He was also a member of UGA's chapter of the Blue Key national honor society. Morris earned a master of education degree from the University of North Florida.
Morris has coached several other sports during his career including football,
track and field, and baseball. He has guided the Bolles wrestling program to two
state titles, one regional title, and seven district titles, as well as 12
individual state champions, 20 state finalists, and 36 state place finishers. He
has also taught physical education, social studies, served as assistant dean and
dean of students, and director of transportation at the School. Mr. Morris’
career statistics prove that he is worthy of this distinct honor.

Mr. Morris’ successes have long been heralded by sports fans and sports writers,
alike. The time is right for him to now be paid the proper homage that he
deserves by being granted admission to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. I
